I want to crochet some of the edges on my current knit/felt project (in the same yarn as the knitted part). Can I do this, or will it felt differently to the knitted part?

The crocheted bits were tighter so I was slightly worried. Needlessly as it's turned out - I felted yesterday and my first bag's been a success. Yay! :D
