Please can I add my recommended books? The first one is Fitted Knits by Stefanie Japel. I'm a big fan of her! This has a lot of top-down patterns. No sewing in sleeves, always a winner! :D

And for some funky patterns there's, Glam Knits by Stefanie Japel and Domiknitrix by Jennifer Stafford

And the book that has saved my knitting from flying across the room on many occasions, Vogue Knitting - The Ultimate Knitting Book.

This is a great idea that will tempt me to buy even more books.
Clara Parkes, Knitter book of yarn is wonderful for any fibre lover. (I see that a new book of wool is due out, if that is half as good it will be wonderful!)

Could Nicky Epsteins books, The knitting on the edge series as well as the knitted flowers book be added? Both have wonderful ideas both for inspiration as well as using the patterns shown.

Nicky Epsteins book on felting is very good, simply loads of ideas that I wish I had thought of myself that could be used in many ways.

Thanks

Edited to stick the book links in :P

I recommend French Girl Knits by Kristeen Griffin Grimes

And second KateB's choices of Fair isle books - McGregor and Starmore

These come as a deal on Amazon for £18.77. I'm working my way through them now, and they are extremely entertaining. You'll recognise yourself and all your knitting chums in here! Also helps de-mystify the knitter's psyche and reassures us that we're normal  What a shame I already bought them

These are absolutely fab, I had a flick through at the weekend. I could recognise myself in all the bits I flicked through - hilarious!

I'll add everyones recommendations to the widget later today :)

I'd like to recommend

The Twisted Sisters Knit Sweaters - this is such a great book and gives you confidence to follow your own designs and produce sweaters that will FIT
Ed Lynne Vogel, published interweave press

Finishing Techniques for Hand Knitters - simple clear illustrations fo things like buttonholes, edgings etc.
Jane Crowfoot, publ. Search Press

The Knitter's Bible - a superb book. As well as covering the basics, it has a wonderful stitch library for lace, cables, textures etc etc
Claire Crompton, publ David & Charles

Why do some books seem to have to ISBNs - bascically the same one but with 3 extra digits in front. Am I recommending inside the Book Club section of this forum? Oh help I've turned into a luddite - I'm TIRED this morning  Where am I posting?

You have to remove the dashes in the ISBN number.

As for ISBN 13, they are running out of ISBN numbers so they've increased the system by three digits.

Am I right in thinking that the forum receives a payment if someone clicks through on the link to Amazon and possibly subsequently purchases? In which case, would it not be more helpful if we all actually wrote little reviews of the books that we are recommending which would make others more likely to buy?

Or have I got completely the wrong end of the stick - as usual
