It's the first meeting of 2010 tonight for the London Stitch & Bitch and I'm thinking of going.

The problem is that I've never been to one before and meeting new people absolutely terrifies me. Has anyone been to a S&B (the London one, especially) and if so, what did you think of it? Would you recommend it for amateurs like me?
