.... plus my Ishbel which is in temporary hibernation until I can find some enthusiasm to finish it, so why did I cast on something new on Wednesday?

WIPs plus status:

1. Sirdar Escape DK V-Neck tunic - knitting finished a couple of days ago; side seams to sew up and sleeves to put in (I knitted the sleeves in the round).

2. Crochet Ripple Blanket - ongoing project as I'm buying the yarn in bits. I currently have about 28 rows worth of yarn in 'ripple-stash'.

3. Crochet 'summer garden' blanket - another ongoing project in Peter Pan DK. I'm aiming to complete a minimum of 5 squares a week (I have more time to knit/crochet on weekdays) and am aiming for a minimum of 9 x 6 squares plus edging, or bigger if I have enough yarn (9 colours + cream for the last round of each square plus the blanket edging).

4. Crochet Lucy Attic24 bag - I've done the base and 10 rounds of the sides. Using Anchor Magicline bought for 59p a ball from Kemps (note to self: check next week after payday if they've got enough of the blue/cream/tan colourway to make a bath-mat).

5. Burridge Lake Aran Afghan - stalled on this during the summer as it was too hot to work on, so need to get on with it, especially as it's an enjoyable knit.

6. Child's Surprise Jacket - I'm actually getting on with this, but the rows are very long (270 sts cast on, nearly down to 150, then increasing back up to 270 ).

7. Mitred Square sock-yarn blanket - haven't picked this up in ages, but as I haven't knitted any socks in a couple of months, I haven't got any new colours to add to it.

8. February Girl Cardigan - this is the newly cast-on project. DD2 needs a new cardigan and said she wanted purple. I saw some Stylecraft Bonus DK Twirl in the Co-Op department store in Colchester on Tuesday, so bought 3 x 100g balls in the Orchid colourway (£1.99 per ball). I have to say that, for a budget yarn, it's lovely and soft and the variegated colouring is very pretty (plain lilac, lilac/deeper lilac twist, lilac/indigo twist repeated). I'm making the smallest size of the February Lady Sweater on 4mm needles (original is aran yarn on 5mm meedles) and I'm not doing the lace pattern. DD2 won't try it on, so I'm hoping that laying it out against her existing favourite cardigan and making it a bit bigger will mean it works out ok!

I've also been trying to get the hang of my new spinning wheel. It's no wonder that my ironing pile is so huge!

If I express interest in any other project that's shown in the gallery, please shout at me :D

it's a good idea to list all your projects to help keep things in perspective when you start yerning for a new project. i've had a real good spring clean of everything on my ravelry project and it's worked. I've woken up a few things from hibernation frogged the no hopers and actually finished one or two projects what's more i've started eating into my stash of yarn and queued items.
you've got some good projects there to get stuck into and some good pick up put down projects, i luuurrrvvvve your NDS ripple, wow those colours.
so BE STRONG no more new projects until you've finished one - and that includes blocking sewing up and photographing......

(I'm from the school of "...do as i say not as i do!" BTW)

Wow, that's a lot!

Would a schedule work for you? Assign a day of the week to a project (hm, you should need 7 then), or only cast on a new on later in Feb and do it for the knitting Olympics. Or reward yourself with some stash if you finish them all in a month!

I have 3 on the go at the moment - 2 which I am happy to have on the needles as they are long term things (blanket and clapotis) but the 3rd I want to get finished as I want to start something new :D

I've loads of projects on the go too

Gloves knitted from my first handspun -nearly finished first glove
socks for stepmum - 1 1/2 socks done
delta shawl - just started
spidershawl from VLT -just started
Great Aran American afghan -6 squares done (i think) been hibernating for a year but will try to finish it this year
Drops cardi -sleeves to do
Crochet bakewell tarts x 10 -got to make cherries and sew up
Knitted nativity -done Mary, Joseph, Jesus and sheep

I've a feeling I've forgotton a couple of projects too.

My aim this year is to only cast on one new thing a month and work on all the existing projects alongside the new project until I have finished most of the pile.

Ah but it's always nice to have a bit of variety so that you work on what you feel like at the time.... she says in a vain attempt to justify lots of WIP!!!

Congrats, Christine, for being disciplined enough to list them all.

I'm afraid I have lost count, but it's loads. I keep promising NOT to start anything new until I've finished at least one thing.

Don't worry about the ironing pile, it will just need to be done over again, whereas your knitted items will give joy forever - in the old days they used to put trousers under the mattress overnight to press them - maybe you could try that with your laundry?
