In Wellington we have two stores ... Wool Magic on Wellington Market and Buzy Bees.

Wool Magic is a good old fashioned wool shop with the wool all around the walls, very well displayed. They mainly stock the lower priced acrylic and mixed acrylic yarns, but have an excellent range. They stock some Twilleys and James C Brett and I've found the customer service there excellent.

Also in Wellington is Buzy Bees. They stock higher range yarns like Elle, Debbie Bliss, some Noro and sock yarns. The shop is rather rammed full as they also stock crafting stuff and I find that the clutter really puts me off going in. They do also stock some Brittany Birch needles and can be quite helpful.

There's also a selection of mainly Rowan yarns at House of Fraser in Telford Town Centre.

Not to be missed is Ippikin in Much Wenlock. It's quite an arty shop, spacious and nicely laid out which also sells buttons and bits and pieces as well as made up garments and accessories. They specialise in Colinette and also have some Debbie Bliss, Rowan and other yarns as well. I love it there! They are incredibly helpful and can't do enough for you. My favourite place though I haven't been for ages

In shrewsbury (about 13 miles ish from telford) we have a few LYS

There is RKM wools, based in shrewsbury town centre (not far from the bus station), wedged between a paperway and a yates winelodge. The shop is very long and narrow and has all kinds of yarns from wendy and some regia, patons and all sorts....
But there is also the RKM warehouse outside of the towncentre in the Battlefield estate. I think its opposite the new driving standards agency office, I havent been there so cant vouch for that (and my geography is rubbish!). Staff arent well up on yarns etc, but if you know what you are looking for you can find some good yarns and good prices too.

Colourmart is also based in shrewsbury. You'd have to contact them privately to arrange a time to pop over but lots of cones of yarn to look at!

Didn't Fyberspates move to Shropshire? They don't have a shop as such, but it says on Jeni's website that they do allow people to come & have a look round if you phone first. I'd love to go and see how they work and will do if we are ever along that way, but it would be a 3-hour round trip from here

Ipikin - also sell spinning resources (my Mum bought me some lovely Noro yarn from there at Christmas and she was talking with the shop owner about Spinning and weaving resources).

Also - although the Colinette factory shop isn't in Shropshire, it's only about 40 mins from Shrewsbury and is well worth the drive!

yeah she did! Whixal.. and i've heard of folks popping over to sample her goodies and come back with cars full of yarn/fibre

Yes, I think she's somewhere in North Shropshire or something ...

I forgot about the rovings that they sell in Ippikin too, but do like how lovely and helpful and friendly they are. Reminds me that I could do with visiting again soon ... and I'm considering going to their knit and natter on a Monday evening sometime ...

Ippikin is great, lovely selection of unusual yarns. Much Wenlock is lovely for a wander around too, lots of shops (including Ippikin) not open on Sunday though.

RKM in Shrewsbury is good for more basic things, good selection of sock yarn and Elle, Wendy type stuff downstairs, remember to go upstairs too for Debbie Bliss, Noro and Rowan and some embroidery and crafty bits.
Also an RKM in Oswestry which is smaller but also has a good selection and very helpful staff. Apparently there are others around West Mids/N Wales too. Didn't know they had a warehouse...
