I had to go to our Warrington office yesterday (I live in London) to do a handover with a couple of girls who are being made redundant. The plan was to drive up yesterday, meet with the two girls, stay overnight, tie up any loose ends this morning and then drive back about lunchtime. So, a night in a hotel, on my own - yippee, interruption free knitting I thought ! Of course, as I'm going away, I should take something new to cast on, right ? It's the law isn't it ? So in my bag goes a nice new pattern book for baby cardigans in Sirdar Crofter, together with some yummy blue Crofter to knit a cardi for my bosses new son expected in July.

So what happens - I drive up there, get all my meetings / handovers done in record time and then decide it makes more sense not to stay over but go home !!!! So a 390 mile round trip and no knitting !!!

On the plus side I would always rather be at home and DH took me to the pub for dinner as a treat and we did the pub quiz (we were abysmal LOL !)

Won't get a chance to start the cardi at the weekend as I have a cross stitch round robin I need to work on but DH is out on Monday night, so perhaps it will be Sex and the City on DVD and knitting then. Fingers crossed !

Jacqui :D

OO don't you just hate it when your anticipation of a good run at your knitting doesn't come off! I've just been given a five dvd set of 'The Godfather' trilogy and I'm looking for a window when I can sit and watch some of that whilst having a good knit!

Oh, bad luck... but I do think you missed an opportunity there - plenty of knitting time if you'd got the train?

Funny you should say that Claire - originally the train was an option but as I had to be there fairly early it was easier to drive. I would have had to go into Waterloo, across to Euston and up and then get somebody to pick me up at the other end. I used the M6 toll road for the first time - what a time saver that was !

Ah but so much nicer to home in your own bed don't you think Jax?

I've just got rid of himself for two blissful weeks, I'm not have the remote control all to myself and of course loads of lovely wool and no interruptions, well apart from number 2 son, but he stays in his studio until he's hungry lol!!

How frustrating! At least you got a nice dinner and to sleep in your own bed though!
