so i got this book for Christmas from my mum and made myself finish the socks i had on my dpns (made in olivia colorway high twist merino from babylonglegs) before allowing myself to even think about trying to do the sample socks in the book. well i finished the olivia pair at 4 and then spent 2 hours looking for my 3.5mm tips and my 100mm cable for my knit pro. I ended up trying it on a 3.5mm 80 cm circ and failed spectacularlly (sp) but then i remembered where i had a long cable and where my 3.5mm ends were so went and found them out. Now i'm about to finish the rib on the sample socks but i'm using a 120mm cable and to be honest don't think i'd do it on a 100mm yet lol.

im quite chuffed with myself tbh as i've not really given magic loop a chance before :0) however i think i'd like to stick to my dpns for lace patterns

Well done you for getting so far. I've had a go at the magic loop 2 at a time socks and the only thing that I achieved was how far I could throw them across the room in desperation when I gave up with them. Maybe in 2010 I could have another go at them, along with everything else that I want to make.....

I keep meaning to have a go at two-at-a-time again after I had a similar experience as Lynne when I first tried the technique! I also forget to wind a skein into two balls... maybe I'll cast on with some of the Lidl sock yarn I bought and see how it goes!

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you, Lottie :D

I'm impressed Lottie. Once you've become proficient, do you think it will save time when knitting a pair of socks, or will it just avoid SSS?
