Well with a change of forum does this mean we can start stashalong with a clean sheet. For those of you new to the concept, stashalong is a bit like a yarn buying diet - knit up the stash instead of adding to it.

I started the year with good intentions but got cotton yarn from Lidl and Kemps this month. I'm now back to knitting up the stash and will not be buying yarn for the next 6 months except when I go to the knitting show at the SECC, Skipnorth and Woolfest. I have also decided to write down the yarn I have so I dont buy stuff I dont need imminently.

Hows everyone else doing with knitting up the stash.

I think I am going to go on one , have just ordered one skein winders books , and hopefully that will help, will relent though when I go to the SECC next month , as out group are all going together and it would be rude of me not to buy anything i need to keep them company in their spending

Which day are you going to the SECC, I'm going on Friday. Didn't buy that much last time I went but its a 4 hour journey each way on the train so got loads of knitting done.

Thinking I need to do this as well, not through choice mind, I got laid off work last month so until another job comes my way money is a little tight. I will however still trawl the charity shops for bargains ;) giving to charity doesn't count, does it ;) I had a little spend up in Kemps before I lost the job so that along with all my othe stash should keep me going for quite a while.

I'm on a stashalong till Easter (there's a visit to Berlin planned at Easter, and I've already mailed some shops to know if they're open!), so I can't buy anything new till then - but I'm saving money for some really good S.E.X. I also have a second stash, given to me by some old ladies from my village 'craft coven', with some lush angora and wool/silk, but also plain old acryl. I can do what I want with it, provided that I come up with knitted items they can sell for charity at our village fair.

I've been REALLY good (not total abstinence, but good for me)

I too have plans to buy at the SECC, but I know what I want, and a cash only budget!!

Sorting the stash certaibly helped me realise I don't NEED more yarn, but there are a few things I want.

Me too! Although sometimes I'm afraid I've treated the stashalong as more of a confessional box than anything else. I'm really trying though this time...

I haven't bought anything for the sake of it - and what I have bought has beenn knitted straight away - except for some gorgeous laceweight froma de-stash - my treat for when I have completed X amount of items.
