A good book to get started with

Can you turn yarn from one colour to another or do you want to learn how? Post here.

A good book to get started with

Postby Flowerfairy » Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:50 pm

It's nearly Christmas list time, and I've been having a quick whizz about on Amazon at the dyeing books. Can anybody recommend anything to a complete dyeing newbie, please? I've been looking at Dyeing to Knit by Elaine Eskesen and Yarns to Dye for by Kathleen Taylor - they caught my eye but I don't know if they're any good. Of course, actually getting round to the dyeing will be another thing on another list, but I thought a bit of reading up might be a good thing!

I've got Yarns to Dye For and would recommend it. Takes you through the whole process and has some really nice patterns for gloves, hats, tops etc showing how the finished yarn knits up.

That's great, thanks! I'll just have to have a quick word with Father Christmas now - and of course I've been a very good girl this year!

You could sit on his knee and promise to make him a pair of socks with yarn that you've dyed with your own fair hand
