Ive just started spinning too, using a drop spindle. I am loving it, but having trouble drafting my fibres as they seem glued together and really hard to separate!

Another bizarre side effect I have noticed is that every time i spin, I get really greasy lips and a greasy face... wonder if that is the lanolin flying off the roving... it's wierd!

Oooh, how exciting. I'd love to have a go at spinning but unfortunately I hardly have enough hours in the day to knit at the moment, never mind spin too. I'm hoping that once Charlotte is a bit older, I might be able to give it a try. Good luck.

I've managed to spin some yarn from my Forest fibres starter kit - after my exam on October 18th, I will post some pics.

I didn't have any problems with lanolin - the fibre I had been using had been washed & dyed.

Still not sure what I will use the yarn for - it's sort of chunky thickness.

Good luck to others who are starting out.
Still not sure what I want to be when I grow up
