New spinning magazine published

Postby Blackdog » Fri Aug 13, 2010 11:42 am

If anyone's not seen it on Ravelry there's a new magazine just been published called Yarnmaker. The first edition's out now with some useful tips & interesting articles.

I've put this in here rather than in the other magazine section as it's aimed at spinners in particular.

Thanks for the reminder about this, Angela. I was invited to join the group over on Ravelry and accepted, but haven't had a look yet!

That's interesting, I was really hoping it might be in e format, as I'm getting snowed under with paper versions of assorted craft mags and will need to do extreme culling over the winter! lol

My husband's been working at home a fair bit recently (which means no paying of extortionate train fares to and from London - we're about an hour's ride from Liv St - or expensive sandwiches from Pret A Manger etc) and, I think because he's also recently bought himself a second-hand Renault Kangoo van for his shooting/fishing activities, he bought me a year's subscription for Yarnmaker and the first issue arrived yesterday. It's very informative and the articles are interesting as well.

What a smashing husband you've got Christine, mine just sort of grunted when yet another craft magazine arrived in the post

Purplegem, the lady publishing the magazine decided that at the moment she wants an actual paper magazine to be published, but who knows in the future she may go for e-zine s well

Much as I love e-mags, I find that if I have a mag in hardcopy, I tend to use and read it more. The comp is great, but to me, not as enjoyable to read - it's much nicer to sit down with a cuppa and pick up a mag instead of sitting in front of a screen. Just my choices. When I edit, I read manuscripts hardcopy but edit on the computer...

I got Yarn Maker - it's fabulous isn't it? About time too! It kept me entertained for way longer than any other mag does, and I've just submitted a couple of things  for the next issue and the december one possibly! How exciting! Having just learnt to hand card as well, the fleece scouring article was perfectly timed for me!
