marriners DK yarn

Postby pcboo » Sun Nov 22, 2015 5:46 pm

my daughter bought me 20 balls of this. it is 100% acrylic and i am having problems working out the needles i need to use.the patterns i have are for DK wool but they are a mixed blend. the yarn says 3.25mm-4mm needles but the pattern 4.5mm. did a tension gauge using both sizes but the gauge was 1/2 inch too narrow. so now i,m lost as to what to do. any suggestions would be welcome

It shouldn't matter if it's wool or acrylic if the gauge is the same - but of course in your case it isn't. What do you want to knit? Half an inch isn't too bad if it's a jumper or a cardie. You could go up a size in the pattern to make it fit.

its a childs jumper. the pattern states 17 st + 4 inch but the wool is 24st =4 inch. my gauge was spot on for the wool.
