Mermaid Blanket - Struggling with pattern!

Postby lamsywig » Sun Apr 09, 2017 11:25 am

Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help me.

I am currently knitting a King Cole Mermaid blanket.

I have got to a part in the partten which I am stuck on. I have tried several attempts but cannot get the pattern to be consistent.

I will set out the instructions below:

"Next Row: K1, m1, knit to last st, m1, K1 (68 sts).
Next Row:P0, K3, P2, *K4, P2, rep from * to last 3 sts, K3, P0

Last 2 rows set inc and position of patt (after 1st inc).

Keeping continuity of patt as set (throughout) work 68 rows inc 1 st at each end of 5th and every foll 9th row. 84 sts.

Work 118 rows more without shaping."

As I have said, I have tried several attempts. I repeated the rows exactly as per the instructions but that left more than 3 sts to knit at the end of the second row which then would make the 1st row wrong when repeated. I tried starting the first row AFTER the first K1, m1 (thinking that was what "after 1st inc) meant but that didnt work either. The pattern is just not consistent when I knit so I am well and truly stuck!

What am I doing wrong????!

Any help would be appreciated.

Best wishes

Liz

Hi Liz

Have you got 66 sts when you start these two rows? Just checking! You should have 68 when you have made the two stitches at the end of row one.

I checked and double checked row two would work right and it does. Let me know and I'll try and talk you through it if you are still stuck.

Regards
Kate
