DIY Yarn 'bowl'

Postby TonyH » Sun Apr 08, 2018 4:38 pm

I saw this on a website, but I've forgotten where, so I'm not able to credit them. I've been wanting a yarn bowl for some time now, but am not happy paying some of the prices that are demanded. So here is what I made:

1. take an empty paper handkerchief box

2. carefully open one end and stick some of that 'hook & loop' fastening to the end flaps

3. feed your yarn through the top and close up the end flaps

Job done! It seems to work okay and is so cheap, that when it starts to look a bit worse for wear, you can make another.

Well I can see it would work if the wool was coming out of the ball easily, but it is so lightweight that it would lift up if the wool snagged in the ball wouldn't it?

That is a good point, but I've found that it seems to work okay if I've wound the wool on that wool winder you convinced me to buy :)
