Pattern explanation required please

Postby Iona1651 » Sun Jan 15, 2017 4:38 pm

I am knitting Rico 252 jumper. I am on the neck on the front of the jumper. The pattern states:

Dec 1 st at neck edge of next 3 rows, then on foll 4 alt rows, then on 3 foll 4th rows.

So I have done the 3 rows but not sure about the foll 4 alt rows. Does this basically mean every other row? Can someone please explain? Is it just the way I am reading it?

Any help/words of advice would be very much appreciated!

Thank you for reading and have a lovely evening.

Yes, you are right. Knit one row straight then decrease on the next, repeat for 6 rows. Then knit 3 rows straight and decrease on the 4th, repeat for 8 more rows. Check you have it right by calculating the number of stitches in total that you have decreased (10 in my best estimation). Hope that helps.

Hi Kate

Thank you for your reply.

I only did the every other row for 4 rows, i.e. 2 decrease stitches in total. That's why, when I get to the shoulder shaping I have more stitches than required but couldn't figure out why.

thank you again, I'm so near finishing but this got me!

Kind regards

Iona
