I bought some Palette DK yarn when I visited hobbycraft last year, because it was such a pretty pink. OK, not a good reason, but I knew I could make a nice baby cardi with just 2 balls at 99p each ;)

Well, I cast on and did 14 rows of my pattern last night, then had to frog it because it was just awful :( It seems more like 4ply when you start to use it
I really didn't like the loose fabric it was producing on the recommended 4mm needles, and as I'm making the smallest size cardigan, I don't want to go down a needle size and make the garment too small.

I started again in Robin DK, which seems lots thicker, and is giving me a lovely soft feel too.

I'll try the Palette for a lacy blanket / shawl as I have over 600 yds. Too pretty to throw away

I wouldn't buy this again, especially as I have 2 LYS where I can buy 6 x 100g balls of DK acrylic for £5.00
I'm a yarn snob at times, but acrylic definitely has it's place in my world

Linda

I bought three skeins of this myself, and i seriously wish i hadn't. They are definitely lovely colours, but they are really bad quality in my opinion, and feel very rough to the touch! When i tried making a center-pull the yarn came out rather frayed and horrible, and i had to waste a few yards of it. Then when i actually tried using it, it was really thin and made me wonder if it was actually DK i'd bought!

The colours were what attracted me to the yarn as i thought they would look nice in my blanket, but i was mistaken.

I have also used some of the vintage.. looked great in a new ball! but never again! lots of knotty joins, frayed sections, poor quality in my view also and I didnt remember it being especially cheap either from Hobbycraft Dec09. But then it is made in China.. vintage smintage.

i bought some palette a year or so ago and returned it to hobbycraft for a refund, due mostly to lots of knots and general rubbish quality. i had my receipt and they took it back with no trouble.

Spiritwolf just wanted to say you've been missed. It's a shame to hear the yarn wasn't working for you. Hopefully you'll manage to find something fab and share some pics soon.
