Re: From The Sock Drawer collection

Those are fabulous Helen, very well done. Nothing like a bit of sock knitting to lift the spirits. When you have finished all the socks in that book (!) have a look at "Knitting Vintage Socks" by Nancy Bush. Perhaps order it from the library first to see if you like the look of any of them.

Re: New Knitting/Crochet site

Thanks for that Lilyan. The site looks well designed but I don't have the 3 bars you mention at the top of my page, so accessing patterns was a bit of guesswork. Certainly some lovely beginner's patterns in there and some useful tutorials.

Re: Please help frustrated

Just had a thought Reddy. (doesn't happen often!) Could it be that your previous row(s) is/are wrong? So that this row is not lining up properly?

Re: Please help frustrated

Sorry that it's not worked out. You could try putting the pattern number into Ravelry to see if others out there have had problems - or even if they haven't you may be able to contact someone who has successfully knitted it and you could contact them for pointers. Let us know how you get on - even i...

Re: Please help frustrated

OK Reddy, I think I have a handle on this. The K2 is just the start of the row. That asterisk starts the main thing off. So the instruction starting yfwd and ending k5 is done twice. I have typed it out long hand for you. Start the row with K2, then: yfwd, sl1 knitwise, psso, yfwd, sl1 knitwise, pss...

Re: Plans for 2019

I love your choices Joy - especially the hats, though I couldn't wear one like that as I would look like a mushroom. So it would make a good birthday present. I am in the process of using up as much of my dk wool oddments as possible. When you are a total squirrel where wool is concerned it becomes ...

Re: 6 warm feet

But won't it make them more difficult to wash?

Re: 6 warm feet

Those are super Joy. How do you know how much shrinkage will take place when you wash them? ie how big to knit them so they fit when washed? I have knitted a pair of long stockings (kilt socks pattern) and then added a sole knitted in a very coarse, hard wearing wool sewn on afterwards. This has two...
