Face Cloths.

Postby knitnac » Fri Nov 20, 2009 10:15 am

Oh, how I love knitting these! I was inspired by reading a thread on here and some pictures in the gallery. I found an easy free pattern on line, bought some DK cotton and away I went! Fast, easy or it seems, as complicated as you like- can't wait to try other patterns, I may just be knitting face cloths forever!

They are so wonderfully easy and quick to knit up and yet look so lovely. I know what you mean about them!

They're fab portable projects too, great for travelling or dentist/ doctor's waiting rooms. I even managed to make a few simple dishcloths while jogging on my treadmill ... concentrating on not dropping a stitch makes the time pass much quicker

I never thought about making my own face cloths before, but it seems like a great idea for a fast project. And I can practise all sort of stitches also.
What is the best yarn to use?
To knit or not to knit, that's the question

I use 100% cotton, which can also be used for dishcloths and kitchen towels. I find it's great for this sort of thing because it's very easy to look after (you can bung it in the machine) and it shows stitch definition beautifully

It gets harder and harder for me to keep myself on one project at the time
Specially when this kind of quick projects seem like so much fun to make :knit:

I love the sound of these however I have brought lots of cheap wool recently with nothing to cast on with, as I rbought it in a charity shop, most of it is DK wool so not suitable for a face cloth, however I don't think my OH will allow me to get more

Just right for blanket squares LuckyDucky! :D (BTW lots of wash/dishcloth patterns are 8" square and perfect for the Friendship Blanket project)

O, this is a fab idea for when I don't think I can make the project a month - they're so quick.
