Best cruelty-free yarn for baby blanket

Postby JillT » Thu Sep 20, 2018 9:40 pm

I want to knit a baby blanket for a baby to be born end of March. I've read lots of posts saying merino wool is the best. Does anyone know of cruelty-free merino on sale in the UK? By cruelty free I mean not museled, thanks.

That's an interesting question and one I'm ashamed to say I don't know the answer to.

Have you considered using one of the British independent yarn producers. I know that Jon Arbon and Fyberspates both had high ethical standards when I first started knitting with higher end yarns. I can't imagine they have changed.

https://www.jarbon.com/yarns-wools/knit ... 6TguCfTXxA Jon's merino is organic
https://fyberspates.com/vivacious-dk and vivacious is a gorgeous yarn to knit with
Plus there are lots of indie dyers
Countess ablaze does gorgeous yarn but has a wacky sense of humour and can be an acquired taste. There are just too many to really name.

I'd be very interested to hear if you find the answer that you want and also the yarn that you eventually settle on.

Personally I would be sourcing a British yarn because there are so many lovely yarns available. If you are anywhere near Skipton you could go to Yarndale 29th/30th September and meet the producers and their sheep.
