Knitting instructions #confused

Postby rb206 » Tue Aug 21, 2018 7:35 pm

I'm starting a new project and I'm using two colours to bring with the pattern reads.

Row 1 (rs) k1a p1b stranding colour not in use on ws
Row 2 k1b p1a stranding colour not in use on ws

I don't understand the stranding colour not being in use when it clearly asks to purl in one colour and to knit in another colour.

Help!

This sounds like a corrugated rib. Where you will end up with vertical stripes.

The stranding when not in use is only behind the single knit or purl stitch. I think it's poorly written. There's plenty of online tutorials so I haven't sifted through them to suggest any particular one. It's a very effective and attractive technique. Keep a nice even tension to allow the rib to maintain its stretch.

I made these mitts which had a corrugated rib viewtopic.php?f=12&t=13623&hilit=Peerie

Are you back on track rb206? Can I ask what you are knitting?
