12 seedless dates (or remove seeds by yourself)
2 oz. softened cream cheese
1 tablespoon honey
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts + more for garnish, if desired
Slice 12 dates down one side longwise. Set aside. Stir cream cheese together with honey, cinnamon, almond extract, sugar and chopped walnuts. Fill each date with about 1 teaspoon of filling. Top with more walnuts if desired. Serve.
These ones are my favorites in the Christmas table.
DON'T KNIT AND DRIVE . . . . . you could drop a stitch!
Hi, lovely recipe thank you. I plan to make 'sugared plums' for Christmas - they are supposed to steep for 6 weeks so a bit late, oops. Not done them before but the plan is to put 2lb fresh large purple plums and three quarters of a bag of sugar, one teaspoon of powdered ginger, one teaspoon of powdered cinnamon into my slow cooker and cook very slowly for hours until it's gooey and sweet and spicy. When it cools it will go in my largest (I think its called a kilner) jar, and keep in the back of a cupboard until Christmas eve. The dark sweet liquor should be lovely in a Christmas gin and the plums (which should have fallen off their stones) will make a gorgeous pud. I will let you know if it's a success (I will keep quiet if it's a complete disaster).
