Do you have a burning question that will prevent needles travelling across the room in anger? Post it here.

Cable needles

Postby TonyH » Sun Sep 10, 2017 3:39 pm

I've been following an online discussion about using cable needles. The discussion focussed on the size of the needle to use. There seems to be 4 options:
1) as near to the size of the main needles,
2) a size a lot bigger than the main needles,
3) a size much smaller than the main needles and
4) doesn't really matter.
My thoughts were option 1, but most people seem to go for option 4 on the basis that you're not knitting onto the cable needle, so the stitch will not change. Any thoughts?

I like to use a cable needle a little larger than the main needles so it stays in the stitches better. If you go small, it risks the cable needle dropping out.
